The Building Standards Commission is comprised of 7 members each of whom reside in the City of Borger and as near as practical be qualified in one or more fields of engineering, building construction, electrical or plumbing construction.

The Commission recommends to the City Council the adoption and revisions of the building codes. The Commission also holds hearings regarding substandard and/or dangerous buildings and recommends their repair or demolition. The Commission also hears request from citizens regarding variances to the building codes. Decisions regarding variances may be appealed to the City Council.
