On Wednesday afternoon, August 8th, 2012, at approximately 1:10 PM, Borger Police Officers responded to the Walmart Department Store on W. Wilson Street in Borger in reference to an Attempted Child Abduction. At the time of the incident, a Plain Clothed Borger Police Officer happened to be on the premises on the opposite side of the store. This Officer was promptly notified of the incident and immediately broadcast the incident and suspect information to Central Dispatch and other responding Officers. This Officer immediately started a search of the area for the suspect, as did other responding Officers upon their arrival. Unfortunately, Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Upon further investigation into the incident, it was found that a local couple were in the store with their children. One of the children, an 11 year old female, was alone in one of the Toy Department Aisles. The suspect came up behind the child and grabbed her, from behind, around the chest area. As the suspect starts to lift the child, the child started screaming. When the child started screaming, the suspect released the child and quickly traveled to the front of the store where he exited the store.

Borger Police Officers reviewed surveillance footage at both Walmart and United Supermarket; which is located in the same shopping area; and were able to retrieve several photographs of the suspect and suspect vehicle. These photographs are attached to this press release.
